PHILADELPHIA - The Penn men's golf team successfully defended its team title at the George Washington Invitational, defeating second-place Boston College by 15 strokes in the 12-team tournament.

The Quakers shot a final-round 287 on Saturday, the second-best team score of the day, and ended the event at 866. BC shot a team 881, while Delaware shot 882 and host George Washington shot 895. Binghamton had Saturday's low team round, at 283, and finished fifth with 897 for the tournament.

Individually, sophomore Max Marsico kept his lead in the 69-player field on Saturday, shooting a final-round 70 to finish at 212 (4-under par) for the three-round event. Senior Scotty Williams shot his third 72 of the weekend on Saturday and ended the tournament tied for second with BC's Kyle McCarton at 216.

P.J. Fielding also shot 72 on Saturday and finished tied for sixth, at 221, while Colin St. Maxens ended the tournament at 222 and tied for 12th. For the third time in three rounds, freshman Austin Powell scored for Penn with his final-round 73, and he tied for 14th in the field at 223.

Three Penn players participated as individuals: Tomas Agrest (74 on Saturday) shot 226 and tied for 25th, Geoff Locher (77) shot 227 and tied for 30th, and Ben Cooley (79) shot 239 and tied for 50th.

Penn will next play in its own Quaker Invitational, a 36-hole event that will be held in Pine Hill, N.J., on Monday, April 2.
