Men's Golf at Princeton This Weekend

Springdale Golf Club information

PHILADELPHIA - The Penn men's golf team begins its final run-up to the Ivy League Championships this weekend, participating in the 26th annual Princeton Invitational. The 54-hole tournament will take place Saturday and Sunday at the par-71, 6,380-yard Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, N.J.

The first tee times will be at 7:45 a.m. Saturday for two rounds and at 8:30 a.m. Sunday for one round.

In addition to Penn and host Princeton, the field includes the other six Ivy League institutions as well as Georgetown, Rider, Rutgers, Saint Joseph's and Temple. Last year's event was won by Yale by six shots over Penn, while Yale's Sam Bernstein (-5) won medalist honors by two shots over teammate Tom McCarthy.

For this weekend's event, Penn will go with a lineup that includes senior Scotty Williams, juniors Colin St. Maxens and P.J. Fielding, sophomore Max Marsico and freshman Austin Powell. Another sophomore, Marco Fortades, will play in the field as an individual.

"We are looking forward to the Princeton Invitational," said head coach Scott Allen. "We will see our fellow Ivy schools there so it will be a nice preview of the Ivy Championship in two weeks. In my first three years at Penn we have finished third twice and second last year at Princeton. We would love to come back down I-95 with a win this year."
