PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania men’s golf team finished in a tie for 11th place out of 15 teams in the Princeton Invitational. The 54-hole event concluded Sunday afternoon at the par-71 Springdale Golf Club near the Princeton campus.

Penn shot 296 as a team in Sunday’s final round to finish at 887 overall, which allowed the Quakers to tie Saint Joseph’s. Harvard won the team title, shooting 284 as a team on Sunday to finish at 832 overall. That was three shots ahead of second-place Yale (835) and 22 shots ahead of third-place Dartmouth (854). All eight Ivy League teams were in the Princeton field, as Columbia took fourth (864), Princeton took ninth (873), Cornell placed 10th (883), and Brown was 15th (906).

Individually, Ben Cooley finished the tournament as Penn’s low scorer. He shot 75 on Sunday and finished at 222 overall, good for t-38th in the 78-player field. Patrick O'Leary had the Quakers’ low Sunday score, a 73, and finished tied for 45th at 224.

Both P.J. Collier and Tomas Agrest began the day tied and ended it that way, both players shooting a 74 to finish at 227 which put them in a tie for 55th overall. Austin Powell carded an 83 on Sunday and finished at 230 (t-64th).

Harvard’s Akash Mirchandani took medalist honors at Princeton, shooting a final-round 72 to finish at8-under-par 205. That was one shot ahead of teammate Robert Deng and Dartmouth’s Jeffrey Lang (who made a serious Sunday charge with a 67).

Penn will be back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Navy Invitational, a 36-hole event. That will be the Quakers’ final tune-up before the Ivy League Championships, which will take place April 25-27 at the famed Baltusrol course in northern New Jersey.
