PHILADELPHIA - Coming off an impressive start to the 2010-11 season, the Penn women's golf team is right back in action this weekend. The Quakers will tee off at the prestigious Course at Yale Saturday and Sunday for the Yale Invitational, a 54-hole event.
Dartmouth and Brown will join the Quakers and host Bulldogs as the Ivy League teams in the field, along with 10 other Division I programs. The teams are scheduled to play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday.
Penn finished third at the Princeton Invitational last weekend, in the process setting a school record for low score at a 54-hole tournament. Freshman Michelle Lee led the Quakers, finishing fourth overall, while sophomore Isabel Han was sixth. This weekend, those two will be joined once again by junior Tiffany Cheung and freshmen Rui Li and Olivia Chang in the lineup, while sophomore Elizabeth Kresock joins the field playing as an individual.
"The women are looking forward to the Yale event and have practiced hard this week," said head coach Mark Anderson. "After playing at Princeton last week and evaluating our performance, we knew what we really need to focus on for this week. I expect the girls to be more comfortable this week and play with more confidence. Last year we finished second at Yale, and I know that if we play our game we can improve on our score and our finish from last year."
