GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Penn women's golf team finished in 14th place out of 20 teams at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, hosted Monday and Tuesday by East Carolina at the par-72 Greenville (N.C.) Country Club.
The Quakers shot 304-299-313--916 to finish three strokes behind the College of Charleston and nine strokes ahead of William & Mary. Maryland won the team title, shooting 879 over the three rounds to defeat Georgia State by three strokes. The only other Ivy League team in the field, Yale, finished seventh (903).
Sophomore Michelle Lee tied for 52nd in the 104-player field (77-71-84--232), while junior Isabel Han tied for 84th (79-82-80--241) and sophomore Olivia Chang tied for 94th (85-82-80--247) despite scoring for the Quakers in Tuesday's final round.
Samantha Morrell of Old Dominion was the individual champion, as she carded a 4-under-par 212 to defeat four other golfers by a stroke.
Penn returns to action one final time this fall, participating in the 36-hole Harvard Invitational this Saturday and Sunday.
