PHILADELPHIA - The Penn women's golf team is ready to get going in its second tournament this fall, as the ECAC Championships will take place Friday and Saturday at the par-72 Twisted Dune Golf Club in Egg Harbor Township, N.J.
Ten other teams besides Penn are slated to compete in the 36-hole tournament, including Dartmouth as the only other Ivy League team in the field. This will be the Quakers' first appearance at this championship event since 2009, when they defeated 10 other teams for the title.
Penn will go with the same lineup it had at the season-opening Yale Fall Intercollegiate, where it finished 11th out of 16 teams -- seniors Isabel Han, Allison Oakes, and Libby Hooton; junior Olivia Chang; and sophomore Amanda Chin (who shot a school-record 68 in her final round at Yale). They will play 18 holes on Friday and a final 18 on Saturday.
"We took some positives from last week's finish at Yale," said Head Coach Mark Anderson. "We had some good moments, but lacked the consistency need to finish near the top of the pack. The team should be more comfortable this weekend now that they have the first tournament of the year behind them. I am looking for the team to play with more confidence and to be in the mix on the final day."
