Santa Clara, Calif. - The Quakers won just one match on Monday afternoon in California as they saw their eight-game win streak to open the season come to an end against Santa Clara, 6-1. The Red and Blue got a straight-set victory from Hicham Laalej at No. 1 singles but couldn't a muster another win in their first match out west during spring break. Laalej won 7-6 (7), 6-2 over Kyle Dandan to win his 10th victory of the 2010-11 season. Penn lost three of its five singles matches in straight sets, with junior Jason Lin and senior Zach Gorn stretching their matches to a third set before bowing out. In doubles, the Red and Blue lost 9-7 at No. 1 and No. 3 to drop the doubles point. The 8-1 Quakers return to action on Tuesday when they match up with a Pacific team which was nationally ranked earlier this season. Singles Doubles |
