Men's Tennis Well-Represented at Saint Joseph's Invite
St. Joseph's Invitational Main Draw
PHILADELPHIA - Though Saturday didn't quite see a full day of matches at the Saint Joseph's Invitational, the Penn men's tennis team performed well when given the opportunity, advancing two singles players and a doubles team through their respective winner's brackets.
Freshman Vim De Alwis was twice a winner on Saturday, downing Joe Labate of La Salle, 6-2, 6-2, and following that up with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Ryan Peyton in Flight B. A Sunday morning match with Roman Cacha of Army could see De Alwis through to his first career championship match against the winner of Nolan Gelman (Delaware) or Chris Seitz (Villanova).
Elsewhere, in Flight D of singles, Andrew Berman was a 1-6, 7-5, 10-8 winner over Johan Vila of Hofstra. He will compete in tomorrow's quarterfinals against Matt Colonnese of Villanova.
In doubles action, Berman and Kyle Roth will face the Saint Joseph's duo of Devin Bostick and Axel Rebstein after an easy 8-2 win over a Monmouth team in the Round of 16.
