PHILADELPHIA – With just two matches remaining in the regular season for the University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team, the Quakers will travel to No. 37 Columbia on Friday for a match beginning at 2 p.m.
Penn (7-9, 0-5 Ivy) is still searching for its first Ivy League win, despite near misses against in their last three matches versus Yale, Dartmouth, and Harvard. The Quakers have fallen, 4-3, in those matches and came within a tiebreaker point of defeating No. 46 Harvard.
Before losing to Yale, 5-2, on Sunday, Columbia (15-3, 4-1 Ivy) had won 11 straight matches, and its last four by the score, 6-1.
The Lions have won the last two meetings beteween the schools, last year defeating Penn, 4-0, in Philadelphia. The Quakers last victory came in 2011, in a 5-2 decision, and they lead the overall series 25-4.
