PHILADELPHIA - Jules Rodin and Sol Eskenazi recently cracked the ITA National Doubles Rankings despite just playing their first matches together this spring. Overall, Eskenazi and Rodin have compiled a 5-1 record together in doubles. All of their matches have come at the No. 1 position during team duals. This marks the first time since 2009 that Penn has had a doubles team ranked nationally. In that 2008-2009 season, Alexa Ely and Ekaterina Kosminskaya were the 54th ranked doubles team in the first release of the spring season. Penn's top duo is currently riding a four-match winning streak together. The victory that jump started this winning streak was a win over the then-37th ranked doubles team from Maryland. Maryland's top pairing comes in at No. 20 in the most recent rankings. Eskenazi and Rodin's only loss together came in a tiebreak against Richmond. Penn is one of just five Ivy League schools that has a doubles pairing ranked in the latest release. Overall, Rodin and Eskenazi are currently the seventh-highest ranked doubles team amongst Ivy League pairings. The Quakers will be back in action this Wednesday, March 21st at home against Temple. That match will begin at 4 p.m. The Ivy League schedule will begin next Saturday, March 31 when Penn visits Princeton. |
