Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American List

PHILADELPHIA - Add another honor to the growing list for juniors Lucy Ferguson and Meg Markham. After earning unanimous first-team All-Ivy honors last season and appearing on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for the top player in college lacrosse earlier this season, the dynamic defensive duo find themselves on Inside Lacrosse's list of Midseason All-Americans.

Markham, a midseason first-team All-America selection on defense in 2013, has improved her standing from Inside Lacrosse's list of preseason All-Americans, where she was chosen as a member of the second-team. Markham has been wreaking havoc on opposing offenses all season, currently leading the nation with 3.29 caused turnovers per game. She also cracks the top 10 in draw controls, ranking sixth nationally and first in the Ivy League with 3.57 per contest. Markham has also added a new dimension to her game this year, stepping up to lead the team in draw controls with 21. Markham has earned one Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week award this season, sharing the honor with Ferguson on March 10 after Penn allowed seven combined goals in two wins.

Ferguson, who has earned parts of two Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week awards this season, was named to Inside Women’s Lacrosse’s second team. The goalie ranks 34th in the nation and second in the Ivy League in save percentage with a .462 mark. She also ranks second in the Ivy League with an average of 6.86 saves per game.

With Ferguson and Markham anchoring the defense, Penn ranks 26th in all of Division I and second in the Ivy League in goals-against-average, allowing only 8.86 per contest despite games against North Carolina and Maryland, the programs ranked first and second in the nation.

The No. 12 Quakers return to action on April 1 against No. 14 Georgetown in a game played at the McDonogh School in Baltimore.
