PHILADELPHIA - Junior attack Erin Brennan made sure No. 8 Penn would not let a tough loss at No. 1 Maryland on Friday carry over to the Red and Blue's game at Columbia on Sunday, scoring six points in the first half of Penn's 13-6 win in the Big Apple.
For her efforts, Brennan was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week -- the second such honor in her career (April 20, 2009).
Brennan set a new career high with five goals in the opening 30 minutes of play on Sunday, besting her previous best of four -- a mark she had reached three time prio in her career. Her six total points against the Lions equals her career best, a number she established against Harvard in 2010.
For the week, Brennan finished with six goals and two assists which gives her 131 points in her career. She now sits ninth overall on Penn's career scoring list and her 79 goals is tied for 11th all-time by a Quaker.
Brennan and the Quakers head to Evanston, Ill. this weekend for a date with No. 2 Northwestern Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. EST. The game will be televised live on the Big Ten Network.
