PHILADELPHIA - The Penn women's rowing team broke into the USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) national rankings this week at No. 17. It marks the Quakers' highest ranking in the poll during Head Coach Mike Lane's five-year tenure.
"Being ranked in the top 20 is a real honor," said Lane. "The women have put in the hard work to make our success possible. Now the real hard work begins, as we continue to push ourselves to be faster and faster. It does not stop here -- our goal is to win a Sprints medal."
Following his team's performance at the Connell Cup last Saturday in Derby, Conn. -- and prior to the announcement of the updated rankings -- Lane sat down with the Penn Sports Network's Mike Mahoney to discuss the races and give insight into what lies ahead as the team prepares for the Orange Challenge Cup in two weekends. The Orange Challenge Cup, which pits Penn against Syracuse and Northeastern every year, will take place in Boston this year.
