Women's Rowing Competes at Connell Cup

ORCHARD BEACH LAGOON, N.Y. - The Penn women's rowing team took third in the first and second varsity races and second in the varsity four at the Connell Cup on Saturday. The races were hosted by Columbia and also included No. 7 Yale.

In a hotly contested varsity eight race, Yale emerged victorious in a time of 6:31.0. Columbia was second in 6:33.1, just ahead of Penn (6:34.8). In the second varsity eight race, Yale scored the victory in a time of 6:40.9, while Columbia was second (6:46.7) and Penn was a distant third (7:01.4).

Yale won the varsity four in 7:29.4, while Penn gained second place in 7:35.1 which was just ahead of third-place Columbia (7:36.9).

Yale defeated Penn in the third varsity eight, clocked 6:59.5 to the Quakers' 7:17.1. In a four-boat race, Yale took first in the varsity four B with a time of 7:33.2. That was well ahead of Penn (7:49.0) and Columbia (8:04.7), and the Quakers' placed a second boat in that race that finished fourth. (8:17.5). 

Penn returns to action on Saturday, April 7, competing in the Orange Challenge Cup with Northeastern and this year's host, Syracuse.
