CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Penn women's rowing team completed racing at the University of Virginia's UVA Invitational on Sunday morning, racing against Notre Dame and the University of San Diego on Lake Monticello.
The Quakers were second behind the Fighting Irish and ahead of USD in all three NCAA boats. In the varsity 8, Notre Dame won in 6:40.8 while Penn was second in 6:45.7 and USD was a distant third in 7:00.4. In the second varsity 8, ND's 6:50.2 was the winning time while Penn was second in 6:59.0 and USD was third in 7:08.4. In the varsity 4, the Irish covered the 2,000-meter course in 7:34.1 while Penn was clocked at 7:44.8 and USD was clocked at 7:53.7.
Penn finished third in the other two boats on Sunday. In the varsity 4B race, Virginia's third varsity 4 took first in 7:44.4 while San Diego was second in 7:50.1 and Penn was third in 7:57.5. In the third varsity 8, Notre Dame won in 7:04.8 while USD was second in 7:13.2 and Penn was third in 7:18.2.
Penn will conclude regular-season action next Saturday, hosting Dartmouth and Princeton for the Class of 1984 Award Plaque.
