PHILADELPHIA – In the final races leading into the Ivy League Championships in a few weeks, the University of Pennsylvania women’s rowing team faces Princeton and Dartmouth this Sunday for the Class of 1984 Award Plaque. The races have been moved from Saturday to Sunday, and from Dartmouth to Princeton.
Racing will start at 9:30 a.m. and continue through 10:50 a.m., with the Varsity 8 race taking place at 9:50 a.m.
This award has been contested annually since 1985, with Princeton winning the varsity 8 race every year with the exception of 1986 when Dartmouth took first place. The Tigers are ranked sixth in this week’s national poll, while the Big Green is among seven teams receiving voting points outside the Top 20.
“It is sort of bittersweet that this is our last race until our championship,” said Head Coach Mike Lane. “Spring has gone way too quickly; however, coming back from Clemson last weekend we learned a lot about ourselves. We plan to take what we learned and get after both Princeton and Dartmouth this weekend.”
