PRINCETON, N.J. - The University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team finished third in the Class of 1984 Award Plaque races, which were hosted Sunday morning by Princeton.
In the varsity 8 race, Princeton won with a time of 6:55.5 over the 2,000-meter course. Dartmouth was second in 7:04.6, while Penn was third in 7:18.9.
Penn took second in the second varsity 8 race, clocking 7:22.2 which was behind Princeton (7:07.7) but well ahead of Dartmouth (7:28.2), while in the varsity 4 race the Tigers were first in 8:03.7 followed by the Big Green (8:20.9) and the Quakers (8:29.3).
Penn raced two boats in the third varsity 8 race; Princeton won the race in 7:03.2, followed by Penn's A boat (7:09.3) and then its B boat (7:36.7). In the varsity 4 B race, Princeton clocked in at 7:59.1, followed by Dartmouth (8:11.0) which narrowly nipped the Quakers (8:11.4).
Sunday's races were Penn's final tuneup before the Ivy League Championships, which will take place on Sunday, May 18 on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
