PHILADELPHIA--The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced its ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District teams in men’s soccer, and Penn senior forward Omid Shokoufandeh was named to the University Division first team in District 2.

 

By earning first-team honors, Shokoufandeh is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be voted on in the coming weeks and announced on Tuesday, Nov. 18. District 2 covers every NCAA Division I institution in the states of Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

 

Shokoufandeh has had a stellar season to this point with 17 points off seven goals and three assists. Four of those goals were game-winners. He is second in the Ivy League in both points and goals and has already surpassed this three-season career point total (16). He has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week twice this season and garnered a national nod from TopDrawerSoccer.com on its team of the week.

 

A Philosophy, Politics & Economics major, Shokoufandeh is also carrying a minor in Near Eastern Languages & Civilization.
