Samantha Crook, the indoor and outdoor school record holder in the pole vault, enters her 10th year at Penn in 2015-16 as a volunteer assistant coach.
Crook works primarily with the men's and women's pole vaulters. Most recently, Crook produced two of the best pole vaulters in program history. Jillian Hart and Davielle Brown each rank second and third all-time at Penn in the event. The only Quaker to stand above that duo in the record book is Crook.
Crook is the only athlete in Penn women's track & field history to surpass 4.00 meters (13 feet, 1.5 inches) in the pole vault. She initially set the school record in the outdoor pole vault as a freshman in 2002 and has held the program's indoor and outdoor top marks since 2003.
A four-time letterwinner, Crook won the ECAC outdoor title in 2005 and reached the 2005 Outdoor NCAA Championships where she surpassed the four-meter mark. In addition, she finished in the top two at the Heptagonal Championships five times.
Crook attended Penn from 2001-05 and joined the Penn track teams as a volunteer pole vault coach in the fall of 2005.
