PHILADELPHIA - Senior Maalik Reynolds will represent the University of Pennsylvania track and field teams at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday in Albuquerque, N.M. Meanwhile, a group of Quakers will begin the outdoor season in Tampa, Fla., at the USF Open on Friday.
Reynolds competes for a national title at 4 p.m. on Friday. The three-time first-team outdoor All-American is searching for his second indoor All-America accolade. He enters the meet tied for the fourth-highest jump in the nation this year. The Atlanta, Ga., native topped his own school record earlier this season at Penn State's Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup on Feb. 8. He cleared 2.24 meters (7 feet, 4 1/4 inches).
In his last trip to the NCAA Indoor Championships, Reynolds finished eighth in 2012. He found the podium with a jump of 2.20 meters (7 feet, 2 1/2 inches).
In Florida, the Quakers will begin competition at the University of South Florida on Thursday and conclude on Friday. There will be 24 teams competing at the USF Track & Field Stadium.
