PHILADELPHIA - In the final tune-up before the 2013 Indoor Heptagonals, the University of Pennsylvania women's track and field team will head across the Delaware River for the Princeton Invitational on Saturday.
At Jadwin Gym, the Princeton Invitational begins at 11 a.m. with the weight throw and long jump. The track events begin at noon with the 60 meters and conclude at 3:50 p.m. with the 4x400-meter relay.
This will be the first trip to Princeton this year for the Quakers. Last week, junior Gabrielle Piper and freshman Theresa Picciallo posted victories for Penn at the Armory in the Lafayette/Rider Invitational. Piper was tops in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.77, and Picciallo was first in the shot put when her best toss landed at 13.51 meters (44 feet, 4 inches). Senior Davielle Brown nearly broke the school record once again and finished second at 3.75 meters (12-03.50 ft.).
Up next for the Quakers are the 2013 Indoor Heptagonal Championships which are scheduled for Feb. 23-24 at Harvard's Gordon Track.
A full recap will be available at PennAthletics.com shortly after the conclusion of the meet.
