PHILADELPHIA - Junior defender Thomas Brandt was named to the ECAC's Division I Men's Soccer All-Star Team this week, one of 11 players honored from the member schools of the ECAC.
A first-team All-Region and first-team All-Ivy selection already this year, Brandt was a key component of Penn's backfield which held opponents to just 12 goals in the regular season and an overall average of 0.84 goals-against over the Red and Blue's 19 games including the two-game march in the NCAA Tournament.
In addition to contributing to nine shutouts in 2010, Brandt was a big contributor on the offensvie side of the ball as well. He ended the season tied for second on the Quakers with five goals. Two of those goals were game-winners, and his shooting percentage of .357 was best on the team.
Brandt, who served as one of Penn's tri-captains this season, was also named Academic All-Ivy by the Ancient Eight earlier this month.
