Greenberg Moves into Semifinals of Holleran Division |

AMHERST, Mass. - Dan Greenberg won two matches to advance to the semifinals of the Holleran Division, keeping men's squash alive at the CSA Individual championships on Saturday. Thomas Mattsson won his second consolation match in the morning session, but fell in the first round consolation semifinals. Mattsson Opened Saturday morning with a first round consolation win over No. 19 Thomas Spettigue from Cornell. Mattsson went up early with a convincing 11-4 win in his first game, but had the tables turned on him in the second game to even the match at one-all. From that point, Mattsson would allow just eight points that rest of the way, winning the 11-5 and 11-3 in the third and fourth games to move in. In his consolation semifinal, he dropped the first game, 11-7, but tied the match at one-all when the second game went into extra points, 12-10. In the third, Callis won 11-4 and clinched the win in the fourth game with another 11-7 win. He finishes his weekend at 2-2 overall. Greenberg moved into the quarterfinals with a win over Navy's Andrew McGuinness in three games. He won the first game 12-10, to go up 1-0. He then captured another hard-fought game, 11-9, in the second to put him in the brink of victory. Greenberg would close that match with his most convincing game win, 11-6. In the quarterfinals, Greenberg jumped up early and then wound up winning in four games. He used a hard-fought 12-10 win to go up 1-0 and jumped up two quick games with an 11-6 win in the second. Playing the No. 2 seed, Greenberg dropped an extra points game in the third, 12-10, but recovered in the fourth, winning 11-7 to advance to tomorrow's semifinal.
