Richard Dodd
Position: Assistant Coach

Penn assistant coach Richard Dodd recently completed his second season with the Quakers in 2014-15.

Completing his second season, Dodd helped guide the Penn women's squash team that went a perfect 7-0 in the Ivy League claiming the program's third Ivy League championship. The Quakers went on to finish the season 14-3 overall, and fourth in the country after the CSA Howe Cup. Three players were named CSA All-America - Anaka Alankamony and Marie Stephan first-team, and Yan Xin Tan second-team - and three were named All-Ivy.

He also assisted the men's team that finished the season with a 9-8 overall record and a 3-4 Ivy League record. The Quakers reached the CSA Potter Cup for consecutive season for the first time since 2008-09 and finished seventh in the country. Freshman Marwan Mahmoud earned CSA Second-team All-America and was named to the All-Ivy team.

In his first season, he helped lead the men's team to a No. 8 ranking in the country, and their first CSA Potter Cup since 2009, and the women's team to a No. 4 ranking a season ago.

Prior to Penn, Dodd was a four-year standout at Yale, and received the John F. Skillman ’67 Award for his contribution to the squash program in his senior season, and finished the season ranked No. 24 nationally.  As a junior, Dodd received honorable mention All-America recognition, and as a sophomore was named second team All-America and All-Ivy.

Hailing from Benoni, South Africa, Dodd attended Parktown Boys’ High School.  A 2007 South African National Junior champion, he represented South Africa at the World Junior Men’s Squash Championships in New Zealand and ranked as high as second nationally in the under-23 age group.

Dodd has prior coaching experience with Elm City, St. Dunstan’s College and Ultimate Squash.
