AMHERST, Mass. - Yarden Odinak went a 2-0 perfect Saturday, playing in the Ramsay Division of the CSA Individual Championships, and advancing to the first round consolation finals. Rachael Goh also picked up one win before being eliminated in the second round consolation semifinal. Stephanie Vogel went 1-1 in the Holleran Division, advancing to the quarterfinals of that draw. Odinak opened her day with a four-game win over No. 14 Nicole Bunyan from Princeton. She would start her match by taking the first two games by identical 11-8 scores to take the early 2-0 lead. In the third game, Odinak was on the verge of the 3-0 sweep, tied at 10-all, but her opponent took the next two points to take the game. She would quickly bounce back, winning the fourth game by another 11-8 margin to advance. In her next match, she would need just the minimum three games against #15 Jaime Laird (Cornell). All three games would be tightly contested as Odinak won each by just two points. She closed each game strong in the victory, winning 11-9, 12-10, 11-9 to move into the first round consolation finals. That match will take place tomorrow at 11:45 a.m. against No. 13 Alicia Rodriquez-Acosta (Trinity). Rodriquez-Acosta was the same player that knocked Courtney Jones out of the tournament yesterday. Goh defeated Pia Trikha in the looming matchup between the two teammates. Goh opened with hard-fought 11-9 and 11-7 wins in the first two games. Trikha would win the third game, 11-7, making the score 2-1 heading into the fourth, but Goh closed out the fourth game to advance and eliminate Trikha. In the second round consolation semifinals, Goh was up against No. 4 Catalina Peleaz (Trinity). Goh would drop three straight hard-fought games in this match, 11-9, 12-10, and 11-9 to get knocked out of the tournament, finishing among the top-12 players nationally in Ramsay Division. Pelaez's defeat of Goh came just one round after she knocked Nabilla Ariffin out of the draw as well. Paleaz would open the match with Ariffin by taking the first game, 11-9. However, Ariffin came right back and knotted the match at one-all with an 11-9 win of her own. In the third and fourth games, Paleaz would win 11-6 and 11-7 to eliminate Ariffin. In the Holleran Division, Vogel moved into the quarterfinals of her draw with a three-game win over Abigail Jenkins (Middlebury). Penn's lone representative in the draw would allow just 11 points total in the match. She opened and closed with 11-5 wins and took the second game by the dominating final of 11-1 to move into the quarterfinals. In that quarterfinal match, she draw Yale's Shihui Mao. Vogel's run in her CSA Individual tournament would come to an end though as she fell in three games, 11-7, 11-5, and 11-5.
