PHILADELPHIA – Penn’s men’s and women’s squash teams make their first-ever trip down 33rd street on Wednesday when the Quakers visit neighboring Drexel at the Kline and Specter Squash Courts. The women will begin at 5 p.m. and the men will follow at 6 p.m.

This will be the first meeting all-time for the two women’s programs – Drexel beginning just its second year of varsity competition. The No. 5 Quakers (2-0) come into the match on a high after dominating Bates and George Washington in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 17, winning every single match in straight sets against both opponents for matching 9-0 wins. They will face a Drexel team ranked No. 23 after beginning the season ranked 32nd. The Dragons’ (1-2) most recent match was a Nov. 18 loss to No. 4 Princeton, 9-0, when the Tigers swept each match in straight sets. Prior to that, Drexel defeated Connecticut College, 8-1, on Nov. 17.

The men get started at 6 p.m. against a second-year Drexel team it swept, 9-0, at the Ringe Courts last Nov. 30 in the first meeting all-time between the two programs. The No. 14 Quakers (1-1) come in after a season opening split on Nov. 17 in Washington, D.C. Penn took down Bates in a close match, 5-4, but fell to host George Washington, 5-4. The Red and Blue, led by senior captain Danny Greenberg, will look to get back in the win column against the No. 24 Dragons. The Drexel men (1-2) head into the match much like the women, dominating a 9-0 win over Connecticut, but defeated by defending national champion and current No. 1 Princeton, 9-0.
