Women’s Squash Sees Three Advance to Final Day at CSA Individual Championships |

HARTFORD, CONN. – The Penn women’s squash team had a good day at the CSA Individual Championships. The lone Quaker alive in the Ramsay Division heading into the day was Yan Xin, and the freshman made it all the way to the semifinals. Pia Trikha is still alive in the first round consolation bracket, and will play in the finals tomorrow. Stephanie Vogel and Chloe Blacker will both play in the semifinal round of the second round consolation bracket of the Holleran Division as well. Ramsay Division Xin faced Julie Cerullo of Princeton in the quarterfinals at 12:30 p.m. The Penn freshman bested Cerullo in straight games, advancing to the semifinals against the nation’s top player, Amanda Sobhy of Harvard. Xin fell to Sobhy in straight games in a match that began at 5:30 p.m. Rachael Goh and Nabilla Ariffin went head to head at 2:15 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Second Round Consolation Bracket. Goh bested her fellow senior in three games but fell to Catalina Pelaez of Trinity in the semifinals at 7:00 p.m. in straight game as well. Trikha will meet Michelle Gemmell of Harvard at noon on Sunday in the first round consolation finals. The Penn senior tri-captain defeated Nicole Bunyan of Princeton in the quarterfinals in straight games, and followed that up with a five-game win over Anna Porras of George Washington in the semis. Holleran Division Courtney Jones fell to Alexandra Sawin of Princeton in the round of 16, losing in four games. Camille Lanier dropped her match in the same round in four games as well, falling to Madeleine Gill of Stanford. Blacker and Vogel have both advanced to the second round consolation semifinals, each winning their second round and quarterfinal matches. Blacker defeated Jacqueline Shea of George Washington in straight games and then bested Damindhi Udangawa of Drexel in three games as well. She will meet Sherouk Mohamed Omar of Mount Holyoke in the semis tomorrow at 9:45 a.m. Vogel bested two Trinity players en route to her semifinals berth, topping Katria Sanchez in straight games and then Chanel Erasmus in four.
