PHILADELPHIA – For the second consecutive weekend the University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team will face a top-ranked opponent. After being defeated by No. 1 Harvard last Saturday, the third-ranked Quakers will receive no respite, facing second-ranked Trinity (Conn.) Saturday at 12 p.m. in Hartford.
Penn (4-1, 1-1 Ivy) suffered its first lost, 6-3, to the top-ranked Crimson and look to bounce back against the Bantams this weekend.
Senior co-captain Courtney Jones has helped pace the Quakers in the early part of the year going 5-0 in her individual matches. Along with Jones, freshman Michelle Wong is 5-0 in individual matches to start the season.
Helping bolster Penn’s ladder, co-captain Chloe Blacker has shown she’s back in form, after returning from injury going 2-0 in her first matches of the season.
Trinity (5-0) has seen little trouble so far this season with all of its matches decided by the score 9-0, except for one.
In a series that Penn trails over all, 16-31, the Quakers found success in 2013 defeating the Bantams 6-3 in a January match.
