PHILADELPHIA - Undefeated and seventh-ranked Penn men's fencing continues its pursuit of perfection on Saturday at the Eric Sollee Invitational, hosted by Brandeis. The Quakers' 11-0 record includes four wins over Top Ten programs, including a 14-13 victory over Penn State on the road last weekend.

For the second week in a row, a member of the team has been lauded nationally. First Clifford Fishler was named a CF360 Primetime Performer following the Philadelphia Invitational, then earlier this week, junior sabre Evan Prochniak was named the CF360 National Fencer of the Week after a 9-1 showing at the Penn State Invitational. This is the second year in a row that Prochniak was named National Fencer of the Week following the meet at State College.

The Red and Blue face off with five opponents this weekend, beginning at 9 a.m. with the host, the Brandeis Judges. At 10:15, another Boston-area school, MIT, will line up across the strips from the Quakers. Penn defeated both Brandeis and MIT by identical 19-8 scores last season at this event.

The afternoon session will open at 1:30 with NYU. The Violets received votes in the initial coaches' poll of the season but have struggled to a 3-10 start out of the gates. At 2:45, Penn will face Boston College. A season ago, Penn went 5-1 at this event, with Boston College offering the biggest challenge among the five wins, falling only by a score of 15-12. At 4:00, the Quakers close out the competition with their first Ivy League opponent of the season, squaring off with Brown. Penn defeated the Bears twice a year ago, both by a count of 20-7.

Next up for Penn will be the Ivy Championships, hosted by Yale next weekend at Coxe Cage. The two-day event will be run on Saturday and Sunday, February 11-12.
