PHILADELPHIA -- After falling to No. 1 Columbia and No. 6 Harvard on the first day, the No. 7 University of Pennsylvania men's fencing team defeated its next three opponents -- Yale, No. 5 Princeton, Brown -- and tied for third with a 3-2 mark in the Ivy League Fencing Round-Robins, held at Brown's Olney-Margolies Athletic Center in Providence, R.I.

On the first day of the round-robins, the Quakers faced CollegeFencing360 No. 1 ranked men’s fencing team -- Columbia. Sabre pulled out a 5-4 victory, after sophomore Shaul Gordon won the fifth point for the Red and Blue with his victory over Lion Will Spear. However, Columbia came out on top in foil (6-3) and in epee (7-2) which gave the Lions the 17-10 victory.

With a break in round two, Penn would next take on No. 6 Harvard in the third round. The Crimson was coming off a 22-5 win over Yale and kept up the intensity, defeating the Quakers 19-8.

The Red and Blue finished the first day with an 18-9 win over Yale, where Penn took all three weapons -- winning sabre 7-2, foil 5-4, and epee 6-3.

Day two of the round-robins began with No. 5 Princeton.

Senior Michael Mills, junior Steven Yang, and Gordon started the match off right winning sabre 7-2, with a perfect 3-0 mark by Gordon; but the Tigers came roaring back and won foil 8-1, giving them a one point advantage over the Quakers. The winner of the dual was now riding on the epee results, as the Red and Blue would have to win epee 6-3 to defeat Princeton. Penn did just that, as sophomore Ayyub Ibrahim easily defeated Tiger Alex House 5-1, giving the Quakers six points in epee and the 14-13 victory over Princeton.

The Red and Blue finished out the round-robins with Brown, defeating the Bears 19-8.
