Women's Fencing Sends Four to NCAA Championships

The #10 women's fencing team qualified four members of the team for the NCAA Championships after competing at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional at Lafayette on Saturday.

In sabre, senior Dominika Franciszkowicz finished eighth to qualify as an at-large for the national meet for a fourth time. The senior has twice been an Honorable Mention All-American.

In epee, Amrit Bhinder will make another appearance at the NCAA Championships after a Second Team All-America performance at the event in 2011. Bhinder came in seventh at the regional to qualify.

In foil, four members of the team advanced to the final 12 and Penn was able to fill its allotment of two qualifiers for the NCAA Championships. A pair of freshmen, Luona Wang and Sarah Parmacek, will wrap up their seasons on the big stage. Wang came in third while Parmacek moved on with a seventh place finish. Wendy Zhao and Rachel Chin each qualified for the final pool, finishing in 11th and 12th place overall.

Final seedings for the NCAA Championships will be announced on Tuesday. The Championships will be held March 22-25 in Columbus, Ohio.
