PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly award winners in field hockey, and University of Pennsylvania freshman forward Elise Tilton has been honored as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Tilton's honor comes on the heels of her performance in Sunday's 5-4, overtime win against Ivy League foe Dartmouth. Tilton scored twice in the game's final 10 minutes of regulation to bring the Quakers back from a 4-2 deficit to tie. They were her sixth and seventh goals this season, which puts her third on the team in that category.
Tilton is the third different Penn player to be honored by the Ivy League this season. Classmate Jasmine Cole received Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors two weeks ago, and junior goalkeeper Carly Sokach was the Ivy League Player of the Week last week.
Penn is 7-2 overall including 3-0 in the Ivy League, the program's best start since 1995 on both counts. The Quakers are at Rider on Wednesday evening, then travel to Yale on Sunday to play UMass-Lowell in a neutral-site game at noon.
