PHILADELPHIA  - The Ivy League has announced its weekly awards for field hockey, and University of Pennsylvania freshman forward Jasmine Cole has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. This marks the second time Cole has been honored with the award, and she has also been named co-Ivy League Player of the Week once this season.

Cole’s honor comes on the heels of Penn’s 1-1 weekend. The Quakers lost their first Ivy League game at Columbia Friday night, despite a pair of goals from the freshman. On Sunday, she had a goal and two assists as Penn rolled past Appalachian State, 7-1.

Cole leads Penn, the Ivy League, and the nation in goals per game (16, 1.23) and points per game (35, 2.69).

In addition to Cole’s honor, senior midfielder Julie Tahan was named to the Ivy League honor roll after scoring goals in both games last weekend. The Ivy League Player of the Week was Cornell’s Marisa Siergiej.

At 10-3 overall, Penn has reached a double-digit win total for the first time since 2004. The Quakers are 3-1 in Ivy League play, alone in second place behind only Princeton (4-0). Penn hosts Yale this Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Ellen Vagelos Field.
