PHILADELPHIA - The Penn men's swimming team will face its first challenge of 2012 on Wednesday when they face Ivy rival Brown, as well as Florida Atlantic, at an outdoor facility on the FAU campus.

Following the holiday break, training has commenced over the past week for the team as they shift into high gear approaching February's Ivy Championships. The Quakers were last in action in December, running away from the field at the Total Performance Invitational, held in Gambier, Ohio. Highlighted by school records from Brendan McHugh in both the 100 and 200 Breaststroke, Penn won 10 events at the meet on its way to racking up 1572 points over three days. McHugh added a victory in the 200 IM while his brother, Dillon, won the 100 Backstroke. Rhoads Worster was a double winner in the 200 Backstroke and 200 Butterfly, while Eric Vanden Noort claimed the 1650 Freestyle.

Brown has had a much lighter load than Penn early on in the season, only competing in one dual meet, a 184-111 loss to Dartmouth, before taking part in the Princeton Invitational in December. The Bears finished third out of eight teams, trailing the host Tigers as well as Columbia.

Florida Atlantic has had a much longer season than either Penn or Brown, taking third in the All Florida Invite in early October. Most recently, the Owls hosted a tri-meet with Cincinnati and Denver, knocking off the Bearcats by a count of 166-124, but falling to their fellow Sun Belt opposition by a score of 165-119.
