PHILADELPHIA - Despite a scorching start to the day courtesy of the 200 Medley Relay Team, the Penn men's swimming team was eventually overtaken and fell by a score of 168-130 to Harvard on Saturday afternoon at Sheerr Pool.

Thanks to an especially fast first leg from Rhoads Worster in the backstroke, Penn's 'A' team in the 200 Medley was able to submit a PR time of 1:30.09, barely nicking the Harvard 'A' team by a quarter of a second to the finish.

The Crimson caught up in the 1000 Freestyle and then took the lead in the 200 Freestyle when Spenser Goodman just was able to beat out Sam Ruddy to the wall. Ruddy's time of 1:42.16 was good for second while Cam Hood finished third in 1:43.09.

The much-anticipated matchup between Brendan McHugh and Harvard's Chuck Katis in the breaststroke will have to wait for the Ivy Championships. Katis was present but entered into other events, allowing McHugh to coast to victory in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 55.39. Andrew Kaminski followed behind him in second at 58.21.

Jeff Cragg got in on the act in the day's eighth event, scoring a victory for the home side in 1-meter diving with a score of 308.48. Alex Marple trailed in third at 289.73. Later on, he broke his own school record set last weekend by scoring a 365.33 in the 3-meter diving competition, blasting the runner-up from Harvard by nearly 50 points.

The other Penn wins on the day were in the 200 Breaststroke where McHugh swam a 2:02.16 in his final home individual event to defeat a trio from Harvard, and in the 100 Butterfly, where Worster capped a brilliant day with a personal best time of 49.72 to edge out Ryan Cutter of Harvard by five hundredths of a second.

Next up for the Quakers are the Ivy Championships, hosted by Princeton from March 1-3.
