CSCAA Scholar All-America Honorable Mention - Spring 2012 (PDF)

PHILADELPHIA - The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has announced its individual Scholar All-America honors for the 2012 spring term, and three Penn men's swimmers were recognized.

Recent graduate Brendan McHugh capped an illustrious career by being named to the Scholar All-America Team. In order to qualify for this honor, a student-athlete must have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher, for the semester or cumulative average, and have qualified for the NCAA Championships. McHugh competed at the NCAAs in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, finishing 14th in both.

Rising senior Stephen Carroll and rising junior Rhoads Worster received honorable mention Scholar All-America recognition. This award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher, for the semester or cumulative average, and have achieved a "B" time standard but have not qualified to compete in their respective national championship.

These three individual honors come on the heels of both swim programs earning CSCAA Scholar All-America Team Awards earlier this month.
