Women's Swimming & Diving Schedule
*Schedule will be updated when Florida Atlantic Invite dates are finalized

PHILADELPHIA - The Penn men's and women's swimming and diving teams released their 2012-13 schedules on Wednesday, signaling a return to the pool for the Quakers after a busy offseason that saw five current members of the squads compete in the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials. First-team All-Ivy freestyler Shelby Fortin will lead the women's team while Rhoads Worster, a school record-holder in the 100 Butterfly, will be one of many looking to fill the void left by the graduation of All-American Brendan McHugh on the men's team.

The men get things underway first, starting the year off with a Nov. 9 trip to Columbia. Penn will look to gain a measure of revenge from last season's season opener against the Lions, when Columbia overcame a one-point deficit entering the night's final race to claim a 154-146 win. On Nov. 10, the teams will jointly host the Connecticut Huskies in the season's first meet at Sheerr Pool. Competition starts at 1 p.m. that day.

A week later, Penn welcomes in Cornell and Princeton for an Ivy League tri-meet. The women's team will compete on Nov. 16 with the men following up on Nov. 17, each meet beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Following a week off for Thanksgiving, the teams continue their recent tradition of competing in Kenyon College's Total Performance Invitational. The event - which has been won by the men's team two years in a row and by the women's team for three straight years - will run for three days at the Gambier, Ohio campus, from Nov. 29 through Dec. 1. The women's team closes out the fall semester with one final home meet, taking on Columbia at 6 p.m. on Dec. 7.

The teams will reconvene in early January and swim at the Florida Atlantic Invite in Boca Raton. No official dates have been set for this event but it will occur within the first week of the month. Once back in Philadelphia, the Quakers will host their final home meet of the season on Jan. 12 as Yale and Dartmouth visit for a tri-meet beginning at 10 a.m.

On Jan. 19, both teams will make their way to Brown. The men will be competing in a dual meet with the Bears while the women will have to contend with both Brown and Harvard. The road swing continues two weeks later as Penn pays a visit to local rivals West Chester on Feb. 1 and La Salle on Feb. 2. The following week will see the men close out the Ivy League regular season with a dual meet at Harvard on Feb. 9, while at the same time, select members of the two teams travel to Virginia Tech for the two-day Hokie Invite on Feb. 8 and 9.

Penn looks to build on last year's sixth place finishes at the Ivy League Swimming & Diving Championships in late February. The women go to Princeton from Feb. 21-23 while the men have a new venue this year, competing at Brown from Feb. 28-March 2. This year's NCAA Championships will be held in Indianapolis with the women's event taking place March 14-16 and the men following a week later, from March 21-23.

A total of 24 swimmers return for head coach Mike Schnur and the men's team after a 2011-12 season that featured an 8-4 record in dual meets along with its Total Performance Invitational title. The women welcome back junior Shelby Fortin, now a five-time Ivy League champion and holder of five Penn school records, along with three other school record-holders - senior Melissa Parratto (200 Butterfly), junior Katherine Ashenfelter (200 IM) and sophomore Taylor Sneed (100 Butterfly).
