PHILADELPHIA – After a win and a loss at Connecticut last Saturday, the University of Pennsylvania swimming and diving teams will begin Ivy League competition with Columbia this weekend. The men will host the Lions on Friday at Sheerr Pool at 6 p.m., while the women will make their way to New York on Saturday for the day’s events at Uris Pool at 6 p.m.

Live results will be posted via MeetMobile and more information can be found by clicking here. You can download the mobile app by finding it in the Apple and Android store.

The women made their way to the top in ten events, which solidified the win at UConn. The 200 medley relay squad -- junior Lauryn Brown, freshman Haley Wickham, freshman Rochelle Dong, and senior Shelby Fortin -- started the meet off right with the first top points. Brown, Dong and Fortin, along with junior Irene Katopodis, put the icing on the cake as the four swam to their final first-place finish in the 200 free relay.

For the men, it all came down to the 200 free relay. The Red and Blue were ahead, 143-140, and needed a first-place finish to solidify the meet win. Unfortunately for the Quakers, the Huskies powered ahead and snagged the necessary 11 points to win the event and the meet, 153-147. In the seven event wins, senior captain Rhoads Worster took first in the 100 back and 100 fly. Worster, along with freshman Phillip Hu, sophomore Kyle Yu, and junior Alex Porter, took the first event for Penn in the 200 medley relay.

Both teams are looking to redeem themselves from their 2012-13 showing against the Lions. Last season, the men won five events and the women seven as they both fell short to Columbia.

The race is on for the Ivy League Championships, and the Quakers are ready to prove themselves in the lanes.
