PHILADELPHIA - As tradition, Penn will open another season of sprint football play this year with its annual Alumni Game on Sept. 6 at the friendly confines of Franklin Field.

The Quakers will then have two weeks to prepare for their regular season opener under the lights at Mansfield on Sept. 20. Penn easily disposed of the Mountaineers, 42-14, at home last season. Last year, Mansfield’s first home night football game since 1892 saw 6,233 fans pack Karl Van Norman Field as Mansfield defeated Princeton, 24-14.

The home opener comes less than a week later, as the Quakers host Cornell for some Friday night football Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. Though the Big Red still hold a 46-35 advantage in the all-time series, the Quakers have taken three of the past four, including a 14-point win in Ithaca a year ago.

A second straight home game awaits the Red and Blue the following week as they play host to Navy. A win for Penn would mark their first against the Midshipmen since 2010.
On Oct. 10, the Quakers will hit the road to take on Franklin and Pierce, who finished with a solid 5-2 record in their second year of CSFL play last season. The Ravens defeated Penn in an overtime heartbreaker, 33-27 last season.

Penn then returns home for two consecutive home games, squaring off with Post on Oct. 17 and then Army a week later for Senior Night. The Black Knights are currently riding a 14-game winning streak, not having lost since Nov. 4, 2011 against Navy.

The season comes to a close on Halloween night when the Quakers head to Princeton. Since 2010, Penn has outscored the Tigers, 216-61.
