CSFL Weekly Release

PHILADELPHIA - Sprint football earned two more CSFL Player of the Week honors following its 39-14 win over Mansfield. Todd Busler was named CSFL Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Quakers' offense to a season-high 502 yards. Alexander Starr was named Defensive Player of the Week after recording three interceptions. This marks the second straight week that Penn has had two players honored in the CSFL's weekly release, while the Quakers have had a Player of the Week following each of their three victories this season.

Against Mansfield, Busler put up her best game to date this season. The captain threw for 269 yards, the fourth best single-game performance in sprint's history, and two touchdowns, while also running for three more touchdowns on the ground. Through the air, Busler completed 81.8 percent of his passes, going 18 of 22. After entering this season as Penn's all-time leading passer, he has just continued to add on to those numbers this season. Through four games, Busler has thrown for 613 yards and nine touchdowns.

Starr was named CSFL Defensive Player of the Week after intercepting three passes and making five tackles, including three solo. Starr's three interceptions were part of a Penn defensive effort that forced five turnovers, including four interceptions and one fumble recovery. Starr is currently leading the team in interceptions and is second in the league in that category. He is currently tied for fifth on the team with 16 tackles this season, 12 solo.

This marks the third time that a Penn player has earned CSFL Defensive Player of the Week honors this season. Matt Cuccinello earned this honor twice following wins over Princeton and Post. This was the first time in 2011 that a Penn player has won CSFL Offensive Player of the Week honors. Mike Beamish rounds out the group of five Quakers that have earned CSFL Player of the Week honors. He was named Special Teams Player of the Week following the win over Post.

Sprint football will be back in action this Friday night at 7 p.m. for the final home game of the 2011 against Cornell. Penn's eight graduating seniors will be honored in a pregame ceremony. Cornell (2-2, 2-2 CSFL) is coming off a tough loss to Army, but has beaten both Mansfield and Princeton this season.
