PHILADELPHIA - Penn's all-time leading receiver, Whit Shaw, was named At-Large Academic All-Area Performer of the Year in a vote by the area's sports information directors. The At-Large category includes sprint football, sqaush, wrestling, fencing, ice hockey, gymnastics and rifle.
A two-time team captain for the sprint football team, Shaw earned a total of seven All-CSFL selections during his career. In 2012, he earned his third career first-team All-CSFL wide receiver selection. He led the Quakers in receptions (33) and receiving yards (488), and led the CSFL with 10 touchdowns. He was also named first-team All-CSFL “All-Purpose” for his all-around exploits. Along with being a receiver, Shaw was a defensive back. He tied for the CSFL-lead with four interceptions, broke up seven passes, and made 15 tackles. The senior also earned honorable mention honors as a special teams kick returner.
This past winter, Shaw was named Academic All-Ivy. In May, he graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences with a degree in English.
