PHILADELPHIA - The lightweight freshman eights had a strong showing on home waters at the Head of the Schuylkill on Saturday and followed that up with a busy day on Sunday at the Princeton Chase.
On Saturday at the Head of the Schuylkill, the lightweights had two boats in the top eight overall of the novice eights, including heavyweight boats. The A boat with coxswain Amy Beauchamp was fifth overall with a time of 14:27.04. The second eight with coxswain Garauv Shukla was eighth overall crossing in 14:58.29.
Sunday's races at the Princeton Chase saw the varsity eight finish 13th with a time of 13:52.70. In addition, Penn had boats finish 19th (14:23.99) and 29th (15:34.37).
The Quakers were also 13th in the varsity 4+, crossing the line in 15:50.67. The second Penn boat was 28th with a time of 17:19.96.
In the pairs races, the lightweights had an eighth-place finish from Brad Adams and Ray Adruszko, finishing in 16:25.45. Mike Gannon and Mike Fisher were 14th in a time of 16:49.93.
