PHILADELPHIA - In the final tune-up before Eastern Sprints, the University of Pennsylvania lightweights wrap up their regular season with the Callow Cup against Navy on the Severn River in Annapolis, Md. Delaware will join as a guest.

It will be an early morning start as the second varsity will be on the water at 7 a.m. The Callow Cup will then be at stake between the varsity crews at 7:20. A battle of undefeateds will ensue when the No. 1 Penn freshmen take on Delaware at 7:40 a.m. That is followed by the third varsity/second freshman race at 8 a.m., and the fours at 8:20 a.m.

Following the Callow Cup - which is a return to familiar territory for head coach Nick Baker, who spent four seasons as a coach at Navy - the Quakers head to Eastern Sprints in Worcester, Mass., on May 19.

If you can't make the races on Saturday, you can listen to live coverage at either http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/navy.portal or by phone at 213.493.0221.

This will be the 58th Callow Cup race dating back to 1955. The cup was named in honor of Russell “Rusty” Callow, who coached at both Penn and the U.S. Naval Academy. Navy holds a slight edge in Cup wins at 31-26, including each of the last 12 years. Penn's last victory over the Midshipmen was in 2000 on Lake Carnegie. That was the last of four straight Callow Cup wins for the Quakers which included their last victory on the Severn River in 1999.

Last year, the Red and Blue finished eight seconds behind Navy. The Midshipmen kept the cup in Annapolis, Md., with a winning time of 6:01.1. It was an open-water victory as Penn finished the 2,000-meter course with a time of 6:09.5.

Last Saturday, the No. 1 Penn freshmen remained unbeaten with an open water win over No. 5 Princeton and No. 7 Georgetown. The Red and Blue led from wire-to-wire and won with a time of 5:30.4. The varsity finished second to Princeton in the Wood-Hammond Cup race, while the fours also posted a win for the Quakers.
