SOUTH ORANGE, N.J.--The Penn women's basketball team turned up the heat in the second half but could not overcome the solid Seton Hall Pirates in the teams' first-ever meeting. The Quakers fell to 3-13 on the season while Seton Hall improved to 12-3.

The Quakers outscored SHU 34-28 in the second and more than doubled their first half output. Sophomore Amy Donovan and newcomer Kim Adams combined for 16 points while Caitlin Slover drove the lane for six points in the last 20 minutes.

Donovan led Penn with 4-of-6 three-point shooting while the rest of the team also keyed in on offense in the second with 50-percent shooting from the field. Meanwhile, the defense did its job to slow the Pirates to 35-percent shooting after a 46-percent first.

Unbeaten in 14 games at home, the Pirates out-rebounded Penn 42-29. Noteisha Womack was prominent in that effort with 14 boards--match that with 13 points for a double-double. She ranks fourth in the nation for rebounding, entering the game with a 12.0 average.

Maggie Burgess led the Red and Blue with six boards.

The game was the last non-conference match-up of the season and Quakers now begin a 16-day break before restarting in February for the home stretch of the Ivy slate.
