PRINCETON, N.J. – The Penn women’s lacrosse team couldn’t hold a 6-5 halftime lead against No. 10 Princeton, and despite a late surge, lost 8-7 in a nailbiter Wednesday evening at the Class of 1952 Stadium. Katie Lewis-Lamonica opened the scoring just two minutes in with a strike from the left side. Chrissy Muller, however, generated the equalizer two minutes later when she stripped Becca Edwards gave Penn a 2-1 lead with Ambrozy restored Penn’s two-goal lead at A 14-minute lull in scoring ensued despite a Princeton-dominated offensive show that was capped with Christine Casaceli’s goal to make it 8-6 with 10 minutes left. The Tigers took 19 shots in the second half before the Quakers took their first shot with But the Quakers shook off the poor start and brought it back within a goal when Ambrozy notched her second with 5:20 left in the game. The Quakers put the ball into their offensive end with 2:30 left in the game, but Lehman’s shot with 50 seconds left hit the right post. After Princeton lost the ball on the clear and Ambrozy scooped up the ground ball, Edwards’ shot with nine seconds left was blocked and the game was over. Karrie Moore went the distance in goal for Penn, making six saves while allowing eight goals. O’Boyle made seven saves in picking up the win for the Tigers. Princeton held a 28-18 advantage in shots. Penn returns home to Franklin Field for Senior Day, taking on Brown Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. |
