PHILADELPHIA - For the second consecutive year, sophomore Shelby Fortin has landed a spot on the First Team All-Ivy with her performance at the 2012 Ivy League Championships.

A year after becoming Penn's first three-time champion with titles in the 200, 500 and 1000 Freestyles, Fortin defended her crown in the 500 Freestyle on the first night of the championships. Shrugging off a challenge from Harvard freshmen Courtney Otto, who led with 100 yards to go, Fortin blazed down the stretch with a 26.88 split over the final 50 to win going away in 4:44.91.

On Friday night, she added another piece of hardware with her win in the 200 Freestyle, coasting to the wall by a second over Yale's Joan Weaver with a time of 1:47.27, an NCAA 'B' cut. With the 1000 Free being contested on the same night, Fortin sat out that competition and instead focused her final effort on an event she hadn't swam all year, the 1650 Freestyle.

Without a seed time, Fortin had to swim her 1650 on Saturday afternoon rather than during Saturday evening's finals. Nevertheless, she turned in a time of 16:32.88 to set a Penn school record. With the finalists knowing the time they needed to beat, only one, Harvard's Kelsey Hojan Clark, was able to chase her down, sending Fortin to her first career runner-up finish.
