Seattle, Wash. -
Senior Brendan McHugh swam his last race for Penn on
Saturday night at the NCAA Championships in Seattle, adding to his legacy by breaking one last school record on his way to a 14th place finish in the 200 Breaststroke.

Penn's all-time mark in the 200 Breaststroke entering this weekend was the time of 1:56.16 that McHugh set in December and used to qualify for this weekend's big event. That record was broken early on Saturday as he cut a tenth of a second off it in preliminaries, reaching the wall in 1:56.06.

Competing in the 'B' Final on Saturday night, he went even lower. Finishing in 1:55.82, McHugh just missed on cutting a full quarter of a second off his previous time, and for a second straight night worked his way to an Honorable Mention All-America award.

The two-time Ivy League champion in the 100 Breaststroke ends his career in the Red and Blue holding six individual school records (100 and 200 Freestyle, 100 and 200 Breaststroke, and 200 and 400 IM) as well as taking part in four relays that hold records (the 400 and 800 Freestyles, as well as the 200 and 400 Medleys). Even with his college career having reached its end, McHugh will stay busy as he prepares to swim in the U.S. Olympic Trials this June in Omaha.
