The men's fencing team put the finishing touches on a fantastic season on Sunday at the NCAA Fencing Championships, wrapping up competition with a combined 72 bout wins which easily eclipsed the 55 the team had a year ago. Three Quakers were named All-Americans for the third year running as Penn wrapped up the weekend in seventh place, 27 wins ahead of eighth place Columbia. Ohio State won the national title with 182 victories over four days.

Senior Vidur Kapur was the best finisher for the Red and Blue on the weekend. In his fourth go-round at the Championships, Kapur nabbed 15 victories in the foil round-robin competition and finished in sixth position, earning Second Team All-American. His teammate on the foil squad, senior Zane Grodman, had six wins on Sunday to up his total to 10 wins for the competition, finishing 15th.

Penn's other Second Team All-American was junior Evan Prochniak in sabre. Prochniak had a disappointing Saturday with only six wins, but ended the competition with 13 wins to finish eighth overall. Michael Mills added in 10 wins of his own, closing out his season with a 16th place finish.

In epee, freshman Rene Gannon-O'Gara ended his first time at the NCAA Championships by being named an Honorable Mention All-American after his 10th place finish. Gannon-O'Gara ended with 13 wins while Clifford Fishler had 11 to place 14th overall.

The men's and women's teams combined for 33 more victories at this year's event than just one year ago, moving up from eighth in 2011. In addition, a total of six Quakers qualified as All-Americans this year, up from four a year ago.
