PHILADELPHIA - The awards continue to pour in for Penn senior Brendan McHugh, as the Quaker senior was named a Mid-Major First Team All-America by CollegeSwimming.com on Friday, a first in Penn program history. Along with McHugh, Stephen Carroll and Shelby Fortin earned Honorable Mention selections based on their NCAA 'B' cuts from earlier in the 2011-12 season.

McHugh was one of only nine men's swimmers to earn this distinction this year, qualifying for the NCAA Championships with his times in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke events at the Total Performance Invitational in December. Those school records would later fall as McHugh set new record times at the national meet, finishing 14th in the country in each event to earn Honorable Mention All-America status.

A two-time Ivy League champion in the 100 Breaststroke leaves Penn holding six individual school records as well as having been a part of three record relays.

The other men's swimmer from Penn to be honored is junior Stephen Carroll. Carroll finished fourth at the Ivy League Championships in the 1650 Freestyle with a time of 15:29.17, earning a 'B' time in the distance race by a second and a half.

On the women's side, Fortin was a two-time Ivy League champion in 2012, upping her career trophy haul at Penn to five with two years of eligibility remaining.  Her winning time of 1:47.27 in the 200 Freestyle, as well as her 4:44.91 finish in the 500 Freestyle qualified her as an Honorable Mention for the second year running.
