PHILADELPHIA - For the sixth season in a row, Penn
will enter the women's lacrosse season as defending Ivy League champions - a
distinction which as the Quakers in possession of the nation's longest run of
consecutive conference titles. Karin Brower Corbett will add 10 players to her
squad for the 2013 season, bringing nine freshmen to University City and adding
a transfer with extensive college experience. This class, which features six high
school All-Americans and five players named by ESPN Rise as Top-100 players,
was recently ranked No. 10 in the country by Inside Lacrosse.
"We are very
excited about the addition of these 10 players to the Penn program," head coach
Karin Brower Corbett said. "They embody everything we look for in a Quaker -
dynamic, smart players who can contribute in many ways and are just as
successful off the field. We cannot wait for them to arrive on campus and start
their careers."
Depth has been
added all over the field for the Quakers, with four players listed primarily as
midfielders - and another two combo midfielders who can move around the field
as needed, two as goalkeepers, and one each on defense and attack. Three
players will come to Penn from New York, two each from New Jersey and
Pennsylvania, while Connecticut, Maryland and Massachusetts each have one player
set to suit up for the Red and Blue.
